Google Video?
Google Video now can play off movies from the site directly: the video plugin for Firefox and stupid browser, but for silly XP only. The plugin, is based on open-source program called VideoLAN. This is quite a news to me that they could take a complete product and make a new interface just for their website. Instead of intending for use on all websites, they make it looked like "Google only".
By looking at the diff file Google Code offers (as they required to), the code obviously make the released file named as "*googlevlc.*" ('*' means any numbers of characters). This is kind of remapping the original project to a google sub-project. Afterall VideoLAN itself could be a plug-in anyway there is no such need to view video in both browsers.
It's just a case of open source and commerical value. As my point of view, if open source continues like this way, every potential OSS product on the internet would become automatically branded.
